Shaggy to perform in Jamaica

Jamaica is much more than what the world knows. We all are aware of Usain Bolt and about the place being compared to heaven but how many of us are aware of the rich cultural musical heritage of the nation. Well to celebrate that a special concert will be held. This concert will feature prominent fifty artistes.

This concert will be held to mark the Fiftieth year of Independence of the state. The concert will be named ‘Respect Jamaica 50’ and will feature live in London’s 02 arena.

This concert is the brainchild of Rob Hallett who is the president of AEG Live. The concert series will run for twelve days. The key performers include Damian ‘Jr Gong’ Marley, U Roy, Jimmy Cliff, Mutabaruka, John Holt, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Yellowman and Shaggy.

The concert will reflect on the past along with a hope for a brighter future said Chairman of Jampro, Milton Samuda on the official launch of the concert ‘Respect Jamaica 50’. Robert Hallett who is the President of AEG says that he is honored to be a part of this mega event.

Lisa Hanna who is the minister of youth and culture addressed in one of her speeches about celebrating the Golden Jubilee in a grand way and making it a special one. She has appreciated the efforts taken by the Jamaica50 committee. She also termed the committee as ‘santa’s workshop’.

Jamaica House 2012 in London will be a part of the Diamond Jubilee celebration. This will be one of the key events of the Jamaica’s Independence celebrations. Jamaica House will showcase curated designs and exhibits.
